Casa Bosque Alegre at Laguna del Hule

Casa Bosque Alegre is a private retreat in the green hills of Río Cuarto, Alajuela, a few minutes from Laguna del Hule, a crater lagoon surrounded by rainforest. One nightly rate covers your meals, signature tours and SJO transfers, so you can stop planning and simply enjoy Costa Rica.

What's included in your stay

- A traditional Costa Rican breakfast every morning and dinner every evening, cooked at the house by Marisol, our in-house cook. Breakfast includes Costa Rican coffee, a fresh local juice and water. Dietary needs and restrictions are accommodated on request, and all food is sourced from local farmers and shops

- Three signature tours with transportation and park entry included (most tours are shared; private on request):

- A kayak and hike on Laguna del Hule, with a typical Costa Rican lunch at the crater-rim viewpoint

- Dino Land in Bajos del Toro, followed by an afternoon in the Termales del Bosque hot springs

- A half day at La Paz Waterfall Gardens

- Transportation to and from the tours, plus airport pickup and return at Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO only)

- Daily housekeeping

- Daily laundry service: leave your laundry in the home's laundry room in the morning, and it's washed, dried, and folded by the time you're back from your day's tour

The house

4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, air-conditioned, sleeping up to 10 guests, with a pool, a soccer court and a basketball hoop. The house has a fully equipped kitchen (stove, coffee maker, microwave and all kitchen utensils), a kamado-style ceramic grill, a gas grill, an outdoor pizza oven and private trails on the property. The house sits in the countryside, surrounded by forest and farmland. It's a quiet base for families and groups who want real Costa Rica with no logistics to manage.

Horseback rides right at the house: we keep a few horses on the property ($55 per person for 1 hour, $95 per person for 2 hours). Just ask and we'll set it up.

Good to know

- 4-night minimum stay. 3-night stays are available at $695/night with your choice of 2 signature tours.

- Every 7th night is free.

- Children count toward the guest limit; children under 3 stay free and don't count. Signature tours are for ages 4 and up.

- Check-in 3:00 PM, check-out 11:00 AM.

- Rates are in USD, plus 13% IVA.

- Alcohol and other drinks beyond breakfast are not included, and spa services are not offered.
